National 4-H Livestock Judging Contest

Entry Requirements

The National 4-H Competitive Events Guidelines and the National 4-H Livestock Judging Contest Rules and Regulations require numerous documents and signatures in order for a state's entry to be a completed entry submission for consideration into the Contest.

It is the absolute duty and responsibility of the named Coach and the State 4-H Office submitting the entry to fully read, understand the rules, regulations, guidelines and to complete and verify all the information is correct on the required documents and meets the entry criteria.  Failure to do so risks either a 4-H contestant or the entire team's entry from being accepted.

Entry Materials

ENTRY MATERIALS due by October 15th:

1) State Entry Form – with all the required signatures (Program Leaders and Coaches), youth and coaches’ information

2) Anyone who is listed on the Official Entry Form and is enrolled and/or received college credit must submit a college transcript with the team’s entry. Syllabi must be submitted for any agriculture related courses. Proof of current high school enrollment will be required for potential participants who have completed a collegiate level agricultural-based course.

3) Signed National 4-H Livestock Contest Code of Ethics for coaches.

4) An entry fee of $500.00 must be to the National Youth Livestock Contests.

All forms, required materials and check must be sent to Bonnie Boyden. You may email materials (other than a check) to bboyden@umd.edu, but we still require the originals be mailed. Please include a subject line of “National Livestock Livestock Judging Entry – Your State”.

Failure to submit all entry materials by the deadline shall deem the state’s entry incomplete and thus ineligible to compete in that year’s National 4-H Judging Contest.
